Indy Family Photo - Your Headshot Guide

What to Wear

  • Dress in classic, timeless clothes. Avoid anything overly trendy so your headshot doesn’t look dated quickly.

  • Aim for neutrals (like grays, whites, blacks, browns) or blues (which viewers associate with trustworthiness). If you would like to wear bright colors, choose ones that coordinate with your company’s branding/website colors.

  • Avoid busy/bold patterns.

  • Slimmer fit clothing will help you look slimmer, while baggy/flowy clothes may make your frame look larger.

  • Recommended: Wear business casual; bring a blazer/jacket (we can remove for some images if desired).

  • Optional: Bring additional outfits for our photographer to give input on your clothing choice - we have a spacious changing room!

Styling a Group

  • Select 2-4 colors to wear. Each member of your group should choose clothes within those color options. For example: ask your team to dress in grays, blues, and blacks.

  • Stuck on color choices? Match your brand colors! You’ll convey a more cohesive brand and look on your website.

  • Consider adding a pop of color. For example: if you select grays, blues, and accents of reds, everyone wears grays and blues. Anyone who has red accent pieces can wear those (necklace, pocket stuffer, etc.).

  • Make the leaders stand apart with special clothing choices: they can wear different colors, or dress more formally, than the rest of your group.
